Featured Tip:  A small chalkboard on your front door is nice for friends to jot down a quick message when you're not home. You can easily add 2 screw eyes to the top of the frame; slip a length of wire through and hang on your door!

Skipping home with bags of penny candy, sipping a frosty root beer from the soda shoppe or sharing a giant banana split at the ice cream social…are all warm-hearted reminders of the hometown we grew up in or ones we’ve visited along the way.Neighbors visit to share news, children play on the steps and if you are new in town, anyone can tell you where to get the best home-cooked dinner, who serves the tallest stack of flapjacks and what time the farmers’ market opens.

In Hometown Favorites we’ve gathered simple, homestyle recipes…Grandma’s Buttermilk Waffles, Cream of Chicken-Rice Soup, Deli Skillet Sandwiches, Scalloped Tomatoes, Mom’s Manicotti, Red Cabbage Toss and Blueberry Crumble.

Gather your family together and enjoy the best of your hometown, then take time to settle in and enjoy these delightful recipes and sweet memories from our hometown to yours! Hardcover, 224 pages. (9-1/4" x 6-1/2")

Hometown Favorites is my Favorite!

I love this cookbook - there are some many good recipes in here that I have used over and over throughout the years! My favorites are Grandma's Beef Stroganoff and the Early Riser Special. I made that one morning for a group of roofers that came to our home - they inhaled it (it's very filling too!)

Great! Adjusted for diabetic diet.

I use 1/3 c of splenda instead of brown sugar. Also, I have substituted no-sugar added preserves for the pineapple. I use low-carb pasta, instead of rice. It turns out great, every time.

One of my all time favorites!

I have 12 Gooseberry Patch cookbooks, along with countless others, but this is one of my all time favorites! My family loves the Baked Blueberry French Toast as well as the Oven Fried Chicken. If you love good ol' fashioned home cookin', you'll love this cookbook!

You CAN go home again!!!!

Sometimes, when my hometown seems far away, as it often does, I turn to this cookbook for comfort. I have to tell you, the cinnamon pumpkin pancakes with apple cider syrup are phenomenal! The early riser special is a wonderful breakfast, when paired with country style baked fruit...you've got brunch for 8 people in a jiffy! Grandma's buttermilk waffles are a wonderful way to start the day, cream of chicken rice soup is better than anything you'll ever find in a can and makes enough for a big crowd, homestyle potato chowder will become a weeknight favorite, sour cream chicken casserole is so warm and comforting, and pumpkin crisp is a fabulous fall dessert. If you can't make it back to your hometown, try some of these recipes...they'll take you back in time!
